Media Center Policies
Library materials are available to check-out for all students. Students are able to check out 3 materials at a time. Books may be checked out for up to three weeks, magazines and resource materials up to a week. Students are responsible for materials checked out; do not check out books and give them to other students or check out books under another student’s ID number. Doing so, can result in revoking media center privileges.
Students are expected to return materials by the due date and in the same condition that they were borrowed. Accidents sometimes happen. Please bring any book damage to the attention of the librarian or associates. If possible, we will repair the book. If we are unable to make the necessary repairs we will need to replace the book. Students are responsible for repair or replacement costs.
Notices for overdue books and fines will be emailed on a weekly basis. In addition, printed hard copies of notices will be printed and delivered to students bi-monthly. Please come to the Media Center as soon as possible if you receive an overdue or fine notice. Any student with overdue books and / or fines is prohibited from checking out additional materials until the overdue matter has been cleared up. All fines/charges must be attended to prior to the last day of school. Any remaining unpaid fines will become a bill to be paid at registration the following fall.
Fines:
Overdue book or magazine - $0.10 per school day
Lost books - replacement cost will be charged *Considerations will be made for illness and absences
Library books, magazines, equipment, and furniture are Waverly-Shell Rock Community School District property, and any damage or misuse will be treated according to school regulations.
In order to conserve our school’s resources, students are permitted to print only one copy, all other copies cost $0.10/copy. You must obtain permission first by a Media Center Staff member to print a colored copy.
When students visit the Media Center on their own they must sign in upon arrival. Students can only check themselves in and may not sign others into the Media Center. Signing in not only helps the staff document Media Center patrons, but also documents student agreement to Media Center rules.
